And we’re on the way up again. Solar Cycle 25 is up and running and so far at least, demonstrating how little the experts know. SC24 was expected to be and was, pretty much a damp squib, SC25 was expected to be similar. So far SC25 has defied expectations with the activity on the sun quite a bit stronger than expected. This can be seen in the chart from the excellent www.solarham.com The actual sunspot rate is currently almost double the predicted rate, indeed the smoothed number is almost exactly double the predicted value. It will be interesting to see how SC25 progresses.
